This year in Traverse City the winter hasn't seemed as harsh as it usually is. Don't get me wrong, we had our days of relentless snow blizzards and gusty winds but I would say this year really hasn't been too bad. However the overcast sky has been never ending. For my photography style I love the moody dramatic lighting so for me the cloudy days have been too long and over stayed their welcome. I think we have had about 5 truly sunny days in the last 4 months. I also find it difficult to find inspiration in the bitter cold and darkness. One day as I was cleaning and doing my motherly duties I saw the sun make it's appearance through the clouds. I knew it was my chance to get some of the images I had been longing for this winter. My son who hates the snow was also in one of the best moods I had seen him in for sometime. It was a true miracle! I was thrilled to be able to capture some moments of my little man on one of our only warm winter days.
